2005 Nissan Pathfinder Off-Road. Tire decision

Postby Jslatts » Mon Feb 24, 2014 5:25 pm

I bought my 05 PF Back in Oct of 2012. It had brand new
Michelin tires on it. The pf had 79,5XX miles on it. I now have 93,XXX And need new tires, tire were rotated every 3000-3500 miles and all tread it worn evenly (7/32 all the way around).
Few questions for members of the forum:
1. Has anyone had this kind of experiance wirh
Michelins before? I know they were new because i watched them put them on. Had the lines on the tread and the factory sticker saying the size and model info.

2. Im looking for a decent mud terrain or aggressive all terrain that is good in mud/snow. i do a decent amount of off roading and i live in a area that doesnt plow the roads good if at all. What are your suggestions?

Thank you[/b]

BFGoodrich A/T or Goodyear Dura-tracks. But say goodbye to gpm and say hello to the gas pump and road noise

What model Michelin's were they? I run the LTX MS2 and currently showing around 10/32nds with 25k miles on them. I got 50k out of the previous set and they would have gone longer but I was heading into winter and wanted fresh rubber. My OEM tires were Generals and they were fried by 30k.

7/32nds is far from worn out though by most standards. 4/32nds is when most tires get changed.

a true mud terrain tire will not be good in snow/ice conditions, generally there is little to no sniping on mud terrains. for all terrains i have always like bfg all terrain t/a kos.

True, although one can easily get new tires siped before installation. Still, I'd go with a good AT tire also. Since I absolutely hate BFG AT KOs, I'd have to suggest the Duratracks I'm running now. They have been better on & off the road than any other tire I've ever had. And they certainly seem to last longer than the BFG or Bridgestone.
