Parking Brake

Postby DanJetta » Thu Sep 18, 2014 7:27 pm

Do your parking brakes hold your trucks?

I just tightened/adjusted mine but still find that they'll only hold my truck on level ground when the wind isn't blowing. When I put it in gear or park on a hill, the truck still rolls at a spirited clip.

My shoes still look good, as does the inside of the rear rotors. I'm one of those set-the-parking-brake-before-putting-it-in-park guys and my wife is a drive-8-miles-before-realizing-the-parking-brake-is-still-set girl.

Definitely should hold it at any angle, with enough pressure.

You can try pushing the e-brake pedal down a few times, it might adjust out...otherwise I'd inspect the shoes and/or try again.

I've found that once I get close on an adjustment I'll set the pedal down a tooth or two and see if I can move the rotor/wheel by hand. It usually gets me pretty close when its all said and done.

My 2012 does not feel as strong as many other SUV's I have owned but it should hold better then what you describe.

Mine holds just as you would expect it to. I use it at the lake on the launch ramp with no problem.
