What too look for when buying

Postby acidreptar » Tue Oct 07, 2014 8:03 pm

I currently drive a 1990 300zx TT and am looking at getting and older style pathfinder for my winter car. What should i look for specifically? What are Common Problems of this age?

Of course, rust is always a big concern, especially frame; carefully inspect near the wheel wells. You'll want to know when the timing belt was last replaced, as this is an interference engine. Broken exhaust manifold studs are fairly common, especially on the right side. Make sure the transmission shifts properly, whether it's a stick or automatic. Otherwise, check it like you would any other car: find out what works and what doesn't...especially heat and air conditioning, check for maintenance records, oil leaks, abnormal tire wear, cracks in windows and lamps, inspection items such as exhaust, play in steering, brakes...
