Postby Chadius » Sun Jan 04, 2015 10:30 am

i heard you can upgrade the drum brakes to rotors but what part should I buy? Would it be wise to just purchase the rear rotors and calipers from the newer wd21s?
I have 87 pathy.

I haven't done the swap, but of what I remember from those that have done it, you need the Pathfinder disc brake e-brake cables, the brake lines from the center of the rear axle out to the brakes, the calipers/mounts/rotors/pads/hoses/backing plates assemblies, a disc brake master cylinder (some have upgraded to a Chevy master cylinder with a little modification) and I believe you may need the axles, as well. The rear ABS system is the same between the two setups. Many purchase a donor axle and swap the parts. You could also swap the axles, but you have to be mindful of the potential difference in the rear axle ratios. It's probably a good idea to install new axle seals, at minimum. Some also replace the axle bearings while they are in there. There should be some write-ups you can find with a little Google-searching.
