HELP! '97: Need a couple pictures of stock stereo wiring plu

Postby DCham94 » Thu Jan 29, 2015 9:45 am

Ok so I have a nice 97 xe and when I got it it had an aftermarket stereo straight wired without the adapter plugs (some fool cut them out) so when I upgraded I just cut one wire to the old plug and connected my new one. Well my baby went down on me and was sitting for a while so I took the radio out and put it in another vehicle, now it's down so I'm making the transfer again, only it's been over a year since I pulled it out and my dumb self didn't mark the wires. I can straight wire it again if I could figure out what wires are what. If someone could give me a picture of the wires that go into the stock plugs or even tell me what the wires are I would be sooooooo grateful.

to post a pic you need to use a pic hosting site like tinypic.

I believe that is it. The colors match for once (I haven't been able to find a diagram that does). I'll update when I go back out this evening.

Well f********************ck. Wired everything up according to the diagram and the radio works fine but I have no sound coming out of the speakers. I put a test light to the speaker outputs and they all work. I guess the next thing is to take the door panels off and test them again at the speakers. I haven't done anything to blow them that I can remember so idk. Im great with mechanics, it's electrical systems that get me lol.

Also, the memory wire doesn't have any juice to it no matter if the key is on or off.

A way you can component test the speakers is wire them to a 9v battery. As you make and break the connection to the battery, the speaker will "thump."

Ok I'll check it as soon as I root out a 9v battery here.
