Horn and cruise control do not work on '95 Pathfinder

Hi, neither my horn nor cruise control will work from the steering wheel buttons. They had previously worked intermittently when I turned the wheel hard. I since took apart the steering wheel to clean the clock spring and now nothing works. I have checked and cleaned every component from the steering wheel to the relay and everything seems OK. I am thinking maybe the brass pins in the multifunction assy are not making contact with the clock spring, but how would I be able to confirm that. Any suggestions? This seems to be a common problem with old Pathfinders.
