Need info on tire size for DuraTrac

Need info on tire size for DuraTrac

So I have been reading post regularly since I bought my 2007 PF 2 months ago. I have lifted the vehicle with the PRG/Radflo 2.0 lift kit. Once the lift settles I am planning on putting new shoes on her. Currently I have aligned the vehicle as outlined here

The debate now is do I get the 285 or the 265 75/16 tire size for the DuraTrac? I see many have used the 265 but in my previous experience bigger is better. Any reason that others have or have not chosen between the two sizes? The 285 is a true 33 inch tire and i want all the lift I can get. We frequent Moab and Southern Utah where every inch counts sometimes.

Will I have Rubbing issues with the 285's that anyone has experienced or used? The wheel has been pushed forward because of the alignment noted above.

Pros/Cons are appreciated from other peoples experiences.

Check your load rating are they the same? In many cases one size will have a much larger load rating then the other and you may not want that or it will ride like a dumptruck.

I run 33s(285) and i love it
If you plan on doing Moab i would say most definitely do 285

The only problem is they will rub up front only
I'm guessing the 265s might rub also while articulation

I would only recomend 265 if the price was $60-$70 cheaper per tire

I run the stock size 265/75/16 and drive all over the backroads here in Utah, along with CO, NV & CA. Even though I have a lift & am running stock sized tires, I can still get a bit of rubbing when one of the wheels is fully compressed in an off road situation. Because of that, I opted not to go for the 285s because they would only end up rubbing more. If one were to not take their rig off road, then I'd say go for it. But, if you plan on really giving your suspension a workout, I'd stay with the 265s. I know others here have 285s installed and love them, but I personally don't see how unless they can't tell when a tire is rubbing the frame, inner fender, etc.

So I ended up going with the 285's. Test fit both and felt that the 285's would be a better option for me. With the alignment there was no rubbing at the back of the wheel, and only had to reset the inner plastic back without doing any meld modding. Happy with the results. Thanks for your input!

Just cut the tabs back and drilled new holes. No rubbing at all. The alignment helped to accomplish this.

Lol my truck is the same color also my sister calls it "Grandpaw Grey!"

That size looks real good on there did you notice the drag from the extra weight of the tire? Also are DT's loud on the highway?

@Thurpertrooper - I plan on getting the super sliders like I had on my 98 PF. Sometime soon I plan in installing and upgrading the fog lights. As for the Power loss which isn't that noticeable I plan on getting the intake manifold that some of the Xterra, and Frontier guys use. If that is not enough then I will get the chip.

@Kestral - Road noise not noticeable at this point. I will be upgrading the intake manifold to regain some of the power but more for when I am towing. I really did not see much of a power difference except for on the steep hills around Utah.

Moab is in my back yard. Click on the pics and it will take you to my Photobucket that has tons of pics with my old PF in Moab. I have been down there while it is going on but never joined in. I think it would be fun to meet up one year with a group of guys from here.

How much did it cost you to make the sliders?

I have been to Moab in my Pathy and it did great been wanting to go back for GoneMoab but would rather go with other Pathfinders.

I used recycled metal from a unused roll cage but probaby $10 I'm square tubing
