Unfortunately I'm going to say NO. It *might* be able to update firmware or something but I'm not going to tell you it can and sell you something you can't use. I'd google around as there are guys way more in-depth on this than I. But AFAIK if you have a reader that's capable of the 6.x series you must stay in that series, same with the 7.x and 8.x.
