Help with new wheel bearing!

Postby Mt545 » Wed Aug 10, 2016 1:56 pm

Hi everyone. So i have a bad RR wheel bearing. So i ordered a new one. Timken 500022. It does not have the flange for the lug nut studs in it, it is just the wheel bearing with removable taperd bearing. Do i have to press the flange out of the old one and press it into the new one? Im kind of upset it didnt come as an entire hub assembly. Thank you guys for any help!

Looks like you are correct, you could try to disassemble your old hub assembly and press on the flange for the wheel. I don't think its worth it though.

The correct Timken Part# for the rear hub assembly (including the flange and wheel studs) on the R51 is HA500701. (Courtesy of RockAuto. They do list the BM500022 and show a cross to the 2008 R51, and its $50 vs $115 for the complete assembly.)

Get the full assembly, you'll thank me later... :)

Also, stay away from the Moog 541003, I had a major issue with this rear hub assembly a few weeks ago, and the driveshaft would not fit through it. Changed to Mevotech, and problem went away. Apparently Moog isn't the best anymore.

I like Timken though.

Thanks man. Yea i should have spent the extra $50+/- for the entire hub assembly. Its not the first time doing this but first time on a 08 pathfinder. Looks like this job just went from about an hour to 3hrs lol. I ordered from rockauto too and didnt know if i may have recieved the wrong part. Guess not lol.
