Head Unit Install - Illumination Wire

Postby Find_The_Path » Wed Dec 14, 2016 6:19 am

I am installing a single DIN head unit in my Pathfinder, but I do not know where to connect the Orange Illumination (Dimmer) wire from the factory harness. There is not a connection that matches on the head unit harness. Also, there is a chassis ground wire on the head unit harness, where is the best place to connect this wire within the dash? Thanks in advance!

Previous post mentions wire, but not what to do with it

if your head unit does not have an orange illumination wire then it means your head unit does not have dimming functionality. so the orange wire will not be used.

the best way to ground is attach a small ring terminal to the end of the ground wire coming from the radio and screw the ring terminal to a good metal piece behind the dash (make sure it is bare clean metal, sand if needed).

I looked at the diagram in the install manual you linked. There is no orange(dimmer) wire on the unit. You can however control the brightness from the unit itself.

I would try and set it just a bit low for daytime and a little but bright for night so then you won't have to change it everyday.
