2005 oem wheel fitment confusion

Postby Speedwagon33 » Sun Feb 19, 2017 2:31 am

i assume this has been covered but was unable to find an answer. The split 6 spoke 18 inch wheels that look like we're factory for the 07 and up pathfinder show a 5 lug 4.5 inch pattern. This looks to be the same as the 05s as well.... However everywhere I look to see if the 07 and up 18 inch wheels will work says these wheels fit 07 blah blah but don't show 05-06 as years these will work on. Pattern looks to be compatible, what am I missing? Thank you in advance for any help.

My 05 is a 6 x 114.3mm. Never seen an r51 with 5 bolts.

05-12 is 6x114.3 (6x4.5) and that's it, and stupidly frustrating.

I never understood why they changed the wheel stud circle size after 2004 when they had been using the same size for decades!

Yes you are correct it is a 6 x 4.5 bolt pattern in all of my looking over 1000 different dimensions I mixed it up. Point being is there anybody who can say for certain that a 07and up 18 inch OEM wheel works on the 05.
I'm figuring there must be something with inside clearance being that nowhere on the Internet says the 18 inch wheels work for anything less than an 07 why I ask why !!!!

So I did a little search and I found that the front caliper bracket, which is the part of the caliper that would hit if anything, is the exact same part number. The rear breaks are smaller and the bracket will not be a problem. I know this first hand😉.

The rest of the specs for the wheels are exactly the same with the exception of one being a 16 and the other a 18.

In other words I would put money on them fitting.

If I overlooked anything let me know. But I think your safe to go ahead. If you have any more doubt and have a friend with the 18 or someone to buy the 18 from, go and try it on the front to see for sure.

it might be a different offset, my 2006 SE stock wheel was 30mm offset and some of the pathys are 18mmm i believe

I have an '05 and put the 18 inch wheels from like a 2012 Frontier on it last summer. I have had no probs at all.

thank you for the research and info guys. much appreciated. As it turns out I went a different route and have a set of 18" MotoMetal wheels being custom drilled for the bolt pattern out of their factory. Should have them in less than two weeks. If ever I decide on a different route then18 inch Pathy wheel is a solid set up IMO.
