Looking for tire comparison

Postby nismopath » Sun Mar 05, 2017 8:07 pm

Anyone have a before and after picture of 265/65/17 and 265/70/17.. also a side view pic to show the difference of a 265 vs 275. All stock suspension and stock tires. If so, thank you I can't decide on tire size and I want to get something soon

265 and 275 are the width of the tread in millimeters. The second # in the tire size regards to the sidewall height of the tire; the number represents the height as a percentage of the width. So, the difference between a 265/65-17 and a 265/70-17 is that the sidewall height of the later is about 13MM greater, or about a half-inch, which equates to about a 1" difference of overall diameter.

To compare the 265 to the 275 in terms of anything other than tread width, one would need the second number of the size, called the "aspect ratio." The only thing you can say with the information given is that the tread width of the 265 is 10MM less than the 275.

sorry I didn't write that very clearly. I am looking for new tires and debating on tire size so I want to see the difference on stock suspension.
1. I am either going with a 65 or 70 height tire. I am fine with 65 but if 70 looks a lot better then I will go with the 70. If 65 and 70 look the same then I will stick with 65 and get better mpg.
2. I am either going with 265 or 275 width. I don't mind sacrafising a little mpg if the 275 fills out the fender all the way, but if it doesn't do much then ill stick with the 265 width.

I see so many pictures but then you see that the car has spacers, or lift, or on aftermarket offset wheels, etc. I just need some advice on which way to go to fill out the fender. I don't plan on lifting but want a good solid look. I am also debating spacers, because there are not many 275 tires that I like, so maybe a 265 with 10mm spacers, but I need to see if that fills out the fender. I don't want to go beyond, but just get to the edge. Hope that helps
