Rear springs broken

So I ordered new Armada springs for my pathfinder because the rear end on my truck was sagging badly. The bump stop was basically my entire rear suspension. When I got the old springs out I found both springs were broken in the same place. Basically the entire first coil was gone.

If you find you pathfinder suspension is too soft, and it appears to squat in the rear, I'd suggest you get under and check the springs closely.

Does anybody know how common this is? I saw a YouTube video last night, where someone else had a busted spring.

I pulled mine off and replaced them within a few months of buying. They have been sitting in a box ever since. Do the Armada springs even fit? I would imagine they are quite a bit stiffer.

They'll fit; a couple of people have installed them in their R51's already. Moog makes a set of replacement springs that are much better than the stock units, as well.

just replaced mine last weekend on my 2006 LE. Both were broken just like yours. 160,000 on them. I have a friend that works at Nissan and he said it is very common.

I wonder if the aftermarket airbags will keep them from breaking? I would think yes since the bags would keep a great deal of weight and stress off the springs.

funny you say that i'm going to be installing the airlift system in a few minutes. My jack broke on my while doing the springs and i just ran out and bought a new one.

Ok two hours of slow work installing the airlift 1000 and it does really help the rear out and at 20 psi it gives it an inch of lift. Now that the rear is stiff I really want to make the front stiffer.

Just don't overfill your Airlift airbags I always leave a pound or two out for expansion. It is possible to burst a bag under load with to much air. They make a big difference when towing.

I'm going to run mine at 20 psi for a few days and adjust from there.

After some initial experimenting, I ended up settling at 13 psi on my Airlifts.

EvilTheCat - how much height did you gain or get back? I just ordered the same rear springs with a pair of Bilstein 4600 shocks. I'll also be installing a set of the airlift 1000 bags

1" without spacer 2" with spacer but that is the max lift with stock length shocks.

Armada has 4-5 different springs but any are better then stock. With airlifts bags it should ride alot better.

Thanks. I'm not really looking for a lift at this point, but the sagging is ridiculous. I carry a couple hundred pounds of gear daily so just looking at something to firm up the ride a bit. Besides, both of the shocks on the right side of my 2006 are blown. I don't (yet) have plans on going crazy with this rig. I did a lot of modding on my old Xterra but don't yet have a lot of time to get (further) out into the sticks these days. My 3&4 year olds don't really like camping for more than a few days at a time.

I run just the airlift 1000's in my Wife's 2010 and that's perfectly fine for her needs - still running original stock shocks at 90k miles and it still handles well and doesn't seem to sag. Figured I'd upgrade mine a bit more.

I'm currently sitting 4" higher than I was in the back. I did use rancho's rear spring spacers. And both my springs were broken, so the actually lift is probably nothing from the springs.
