Flooded engine crossing a creek

Postby Cday30 » Sun Apr 23, 2017 11:15 am

Flooded my 1990 crossing a creek. Already pumped the water out of the engine by removing spark plugs. Engine turns over and sounds fine but it just won't crank. Keeps turning but never seems to spark up. Gone through the list of things I can think and can't find a solution. What do should I try?

So, it "cranks" but won't "fire." Do you have spark to the plugs? Did any water get into the cab? Did you change the oil or check for water in it? Did you try spraying carb cleaner or starter fluid into the engine and then try starting? Have you confirmed compression is in spec?
