$471 to change spark plugs

Postby Wes » Wed May 03, 2017 9:31 am

We have a new nissan dealer down the street (northern Atlanta). I called to see what the price would be to change my spark plugs because it would be really convenient to my home and why not? They wanted $471. $162 in parts and 2.5 hours of labor. I just looked the parts up on RockAuto and the NGK 6240 is $9. The referenced some seals that are required. Anybody got any ideas about these seals.

I don't think I will use the Nissan dealer and stick with my regular mechanic. Do people really pay that much?

I changed all 6 plugs on my daughter's 1998 Pathfinder VG33 engine, had never done this before on a V6 Nissan engine, took me under 1.5 hours. Yes, had to lie on engine and use mirror to help R&R #6 plug, but do-able.
