Won't shift from park

Postby Dtlantzy » Thu Jun 22, 2017 8:03 pm

I have a 2013 Pathfinder S and it won't shift out of park while the brake pedal is depressed. I have changed the stop lamp switch, and another switch (#1 circled part on the picture) on the gear shift assembly as well. I think what the problem is is the shift lock solenoid (from the research I have done). However, I have been unable to locate exactly where this is and what it looks like. I am thinking it is the #2 circled part on the picture, but I can't find a part number, or description of this piece, or anything. Does anyone have any ideas or input on what I may be able to try without going to the dealer and spending an arm and a leg?

I don't know if it's related, but there was a recall for 2013-14 Pathfinders regarding the stop lamp switch. Recall involved checking the brake switch adjustment. If the adjustment was in spec, nothing would be done. If it was out of spec, the brake switch was adjusted or replaced (I can't remember which) and the stop lamp relay was replaced, as well.

There was a discussion of this issue here:
