Curious - P rated tire vs LT rated for occasional offroading

Postby underworld1001 » Thu Aug 03, 2017 8:38 pm

Hey all, curious if any one has any recommendations between P rated and LT rated tires for occasional off road use. I know the P is generally more for comfort and has a weaker sidewall vs the LT, but how weak is the sidewall exactly. For example the Hankook Dynapro P vs LT? Is one the "wanna" look offroad vs "real" AT tire? Generalizations are fine, just more so interested in the cost difference and the benefit one over the other.

You should look at tire weight the LT tires can weigh quite a bit more effecting both fuel millage and wear and tear on suspension components. LT tires usually give you more tread depth that's a plus but the ride usually suffers.

You need to ask yourself how much off roading do I plan to do? Also if you tow anything LT tires are much better for that application.
