Hello from central canada - serious security issue with site

Postby Xanadu » Sun Dec 10, 2017 10:04 am

Hello everyone from Centra Canada!

Just got myself a R51 2012 Pathfinder, look forward to conversing!

It occurred to me that encrypted emails are being sent out from the site when you register. It contains your plain text password. This is a serious security issue.

Can admins please change the policy of broadcasting plain text passwords?

Thanks !

Unfortunately we are kind of stuck with this really old version of phpBB. I'm an admin but have nothing to do with the hosting/server side of things.

I would take it over, but have a feeling we will see more and more of a drop in traffic as time goes on, as this has become mostly an R51 site, and there are less and less of them out there. So may be a wasted effort.

Still love my truck though!

I used to admin several large car forums (30K active users) and traffic on all of those has slowed to a trickle. It's not just the age of the cars. Everyone has moved over to FB. Which sucks, because it's unusable in the context that's useful to us, and practically unsearchable as well.

This is why I make an effort to be a positive force on many car Nissan forums.
FB is the enemy to the forums concept.

And the forums concept is superior in content management for users.

I mostly just go on facebook to influence ppl onto forums.
