Flashing low 4 and vdc light stuck on- Help!!!!!!!

Postby sidecar » Mon Jan 08, 2018 1:15 pm

Hi guys. I've owned my 2009 Pathy for 3 years now and had never used the 4WD. That changed this morning when I slid off the road on my way to go ice fishing. After a bit of work, I got the truck back on the road, but it seems to be stuck in 4WD and the readout on the dash has the transfer box and front wheels as well as the low 4 readout flashing and it won't drive more than 30 or so mph without revving high. Any ideas as to what happened or how I can get it back into 2WD?? Thanks for the read

There should be codes stored in the 4x4 control unit. A capable scan tool would be needed to access those codes or there is a manual method to get them in the factory service manual:

1. Warm up engine.
2. Move A/T selector lever to “P†position.
3. Turn 4WD shift switch to “2WD†position.
4. Turn ignition switch “ON†and “OFF†at least twice, and then turn ignition switch “OFFâ€.
5. Turn 4WD shift switch to “AUTO†position.
6. Turn ignition switch “ONâ€. (Do not start engine.)
7. 4WD warning lamp ON.
If 4WD warning lamp does not turn ON, refer to TF-122, "4WD Warning Lamp Does Not Turn ON" .
8. Move A/T selector lever to “R†position.
9. Turn 4WD shift switch to “2WDâ€, “AUTO†and “2WD†in order.
10. Move A/T selector lever to “D†position.
11. Turn 4WD shift switch to “LOCKâ€, “AUTO†and “LOCK†in order.
12. Move A/T selector lever to “N†position.
13. Turn 4WD shift switch to “AUTO†position.
14. Move A/T selector lever to “P†position.
15. Read the flickering of 4WD warning lamp.

If we know what the codes are, it would help give an idea of what's going on.
