Misfire And No Power Under Load After CAI

Postby MtnTop » Sun Jan 14, 2018 4:31 pm

After installing my K&N intake, my 2005 pathfinder misfires under load, esp. going up hill to the point flooring it almost stalls it and it only revs to 2-3k. Its only under load tho, in park it revs fine. My only idea is that i had to move it like 20 ft with no MAF because it was stuck in by a stripped screw. could that have caused the plugs to foul?

Any chance you installed the MAS backwards?

Its a possibility, however idk. i do know the green part like a gasket is showing as if its not pushed in all the way and its not screwed in all the way but i dont wanna force it. i also dropped the sensor on the grass but i didn't see any damage is it possible that could have messed it up?

Possible, but I would pull the MAS out and make sure the hotwire is facing the air filter.

Also make sure everything is on good. Air entering in front of the MAF will also make it run bad.
Did you clean anything on the throttle body? Might need a relearn if not dont mind this.

Nissan MAFs hate oiled airfilters.

In my old Nissan Z club nearly every single guy who put a oiled filter like a K&N into his car had MAF issues as a result.
OEM MAFs are expensive.. and the aftermarkets are often very bad.

Yeah i think it may be the MAF because i disconnected it as a test and there was no codes for a misfire, only the maf and iat. theres never any maf codes with it connected tho and it is facing the right way

The IAT is built into the MAS, so turning the key on with it unplugged will automatically trigger a code for both as it sees an open circuit.
