Dirty air filter?

Postby Kestral » Mon Feb 19, 2018 8:14 am

Is it just my V6 or have others noticed over the years that the air filters on the V6 R51 seem to last a long time and don't get to dirty? Maybe it's from the stock air box air going threw the fender before reaching the filter?

I've noticed the same thing. They've never been very dirty when I've replaced them. I still do it since filters are cheap but they never look too bad. Maybe this means the stock intake is restrictive?

I noticed the same thing...
I think they do sit kinda high off the ground tho if memory serves.
That probably doesn't hurt..

I used to change mine around 45,000 miles and even then, they usually weren't too bad. It all depends on the driving environment of the vehicle, I suppose. Cabin air filters seem to get plenty dirty, though!

That's for sure. Mine usually have twigs and leaves stuck in them too.
