question on 4x4

Postby TacoSniper » Sun May 06, 2018 8:53 am

You guys are great by the way. OK. I have a 99 SE. I picked this one up for a really good price, and am currently running through the vehicle replacing everything that needs replacing. Here is where I need you guys.

When I put it into 4x4, and turn while driving, it makes a sound that seems an awful lot like the cv axles popping. It only does it when turning. When in 4x4, and staying straight, no popping. When not in 4x4, no popping. The sounds come from the cv axles, but my own logic says something else may be the issues.

Please advise.

Thanks

Have you inspected the CVs? I would get it on a lift and inspect all of the front suspension components.

I have inspected. All looks good except for the CV boots being cracked.

A pair of after market axle assemblies are not all that expensive and pretty easy to change. It sounds like they're shot.
