Need help identifing missing part.

Postby Hossenburg » Sun Jun 03, 2018 11:13 pm

I have an 88 Pathfinder that is missing a part and I have no idea what that part is. In the picture you have the radiator hose and a hose coming off of it with a raised piece. The part with the yellow sticker. What part threads into that spot? Thanks.

That part is an air bleeder. There's a plastic screw, Nissan # 21417-60S00, that screws into it. If you want a new gasket, it's # 21481-18000. Or, you can purchase the whole upper radiator hose assembly that contains all of those parts, Nissan # 21501-09G00. Here's the part diagram:

Is that bleeder absolutely necessary to drive it? Or can I do with out it for a short trip?

Well, if the screw is broken off in it and it's not leaking, you can make a short trip with it. If it's totally missing, then coolant will pour out of it. IIRC, the thread was the same as the radiator drain plugs used on a lot of later model Nissans. You might try to see if your local auto parts store stocks Dorman-HELP # 61137 Radiator Drain Cock. It'll come with a gasket and will be a little shorter than the original part, but it may work.
