Anything to look for?

Postby Hossenburg » Fri Jun 15, 2018 3:51 pm

Hello I'm looking at buying an 88 Pathfinder for 500 bucks. Guy says it runs good, only reason he's selling it is because it was his brothers who died. It's a v6 4x4. That's about all I know about it until Sunday. Is there anything I should keep an eye out for that would not make this a hell of a deal? Thanks in advance.

Main thing to look out for is rust, especially on the frame rails. Next would be signs of transmission issues. Other than that, they are typically reliable and not too bad to work on. Do keep in mind that if it has the V6, it is an interference engine with a timing belt that needs to be replaced every 60,000 miles or 5-years.
