Blackstone Lab Report, SuperTech Full-synthetic @ 12,000 mi.

Above is the first oil analysis I've had done on my 2008 Pathfinder V6 (previously, I had it done on a 7500 sample from my 2006 Pathfinder). On this sample, the 2008 Pathfinder V6 has 233,000 miles on it with the only previous engine work being done (other than maintenance) was a timing chain set replacement @ 148,000 miles. I've been using only Walmart's SuperTech 5W30 Full-synthetic oil on it since it had 45,000 miles on it. Oil filters used during that span were either genuine Nissan or Purolator Pure One. Usually, I replace the oil and filter every 7,500 miles, but this one got postponed to 12,000 miles, so I figured it'd be a good time to test! Results came back great, IMO, considering the amount of mileage on the oil, but, looks like 12,000 miles is about as far as I should push it. I'll still be sticking with me "usual" 7500 mile intervals, but, it's good to know!

For those that missed my previous report on my 2006 Pathfinder, I've included it below. In the 2006's case, there was almost 150,000 miles on the vehicle and 7500 miles on the oil sample. Previous work to the engine was a timing chain set at around 92,000 miles. Oil used has always been, again, SuperTech 5W30 Full-synthetic with genuine Nissan oil filters.

Wow!! I religiously change mine around 6k miles, only using Mobil 1 5w-30 full synthetic with a Mobil 1 15k oil filter. I've done I think 3 or 4 samples with Blackstone and each one has been great. I assume I could push mine further, but I only average about 8k miles a year on it, so the 12 month limit usually gets me to change it. I may push it this time around and will post my report.

For those that have never used Blackstone, they are EXCELLENT!!!

Do you guys follow a time limit at all with oil changes? I currently do oil change twice a year with a filter change every year. I put about 3000 miles a year on the Pathfinder. We have big seasonal temp changes too. Should I be changing oil less?

Good numbers!

I was getting nervous with my last oil change at 6200 miles with standard 5w-30, non syn and a Mobil1 Oil Filer.

Oil didnt look all that dirty we it came out though.
Nearly all miles were hiway miles though since that SUV was my "traveling SUV"
This oil change is Mobil1 5w-30 w/ Mobil1 filter.
