Antenna

Postby Graham W » Mon Sep 03, 2018 6:46 am

My radio reception is naff! Even local stations are poor and crackles.

The rear side windows the metal has worn away over the years. probably the easiest way is to replace both panels. But we have shop writing on the outside too, so add another £30.00 to the £££ of the windows.

I found this diagram for the wiring

And wonder if any one else has modded the antenna to something better?

Ideas.

Dont really want an old fashioned rubber on the back 1/4, but didnt know if a shark-fin style ish ???

Cheers peeps

I have this same issue. youcan buy tin or window deffoger repair kit and fix the the metal traces.
Another alternative would be a new outside antenna. If you do so make sure it plugs into the amplifier first (#1 in diagram) otherwise you will end up with poor reception. Last would be to buy a new insde powered antenna and connect direct to the radio, completely bypassing the original setup.
Good luck!
