2001-2004 Pathfinder

Postby jetstream87 » Wed Jan 02, 2019 1:53 pm

Good news! I am in the market for a used car and after searching I decided to replace my 97 Pathfinder with an newer model. I am leaning on a 2001-2004 in which I saw a youtube video where a mechanic was saying that the early 2000's are better built quality vs the newer ones. I decided to get the same trim model SE but wanted to know if all SE trim are 4x4 or not? I only came across that SE is a 4 wheel driver but when I look at the pictures I do not see the lever or option to changes from 2H or 4 L/H. Any input will be appreciated 2001(109,000 miles) /2004 (130,000) Nissan Pathfinder SE is what I am currently looking at.

The 2005-2012 are so much more vehicle though....

if you are talking about Scotty Kilmers youtube vids the guy tends to hyperbole.
Then main problem those had and how to adress you can find in our R51 subforum

but i dont want to talk you out of a R50.. Just trying to make sure you look at them for the right reason..

R50s are very affordable and a well preserved example can be a vehicle thats both beautiful and capable...

Check for rust though especially passenger wheelwells.

Also consider QX4.. they are also R50s...same vehicle but with higher equipment levels and some would have been better maintained than average (due to wealthier owners)

(Tho I do actually feel the exterior of the Nissan R50 has aged better in looks than of the Infiniti R50)

Others here I am sure will also offer sage advice :)

Oh and welcome to ThePath!!!!

You could get 2-wheel drive in the SE trim. They are "rare," but 2-wheel drive Pathfinders aren't all that common as a whole, anyway. Most of them tend to be found in the southern part of the country, like Florida.

Yes! That is him lol; thank you for the input! I am for sure getting a newer Pathfinder; my mechanic told me that they will pass the 300K mark if I keep up with the preventative maintenance. Since my 97 save me on my accident and it is still running it convinced me that I have a tank built car lol sad that I have to let it go.

that thread looks like it's for R51's. Is 212k high? I am just getting started.
