CarFax Question

Postby mark916 » Thu Jan 31, 2019 6:12 pm

Maybe you guys might know. When a car is advertised for sale and comes with a CarFax,, the information that's listed, is that inputted by the actual owner of the car, the dealer, who actually posts in the data.

When the dealer indicates the car was serviced and inspected by Nissan, is the Nissan dealer putting in that info into Carfax somehow . Say if the Dealer just got an oil change only from Nissan, then said it was inspected by Nissan, Does the independent dealer able to lie and put that into Carfax or did the Nissan dealer inout that.

I know the Carfax info isn't always correct. But always wondered who has the authority to insert data, or not just anybody.

Its never the owner.... bt the maintainer.

Not all mechanics do.. Usually only the big chains like the Nissan dealer and some repair chains.
Maintenance can be performed and not show.

Titles can be "washed" and not show a negative in Carfax..

However all in all, it is still a valuable tool IMHO.
