rebuilt VQ40DE engine: cannot turn the crankshaft any more

Postby btblount » Mon Apr 01, 2019 6:18 pm

I recently finished the engine rebuild. All bearings and cams were lubed with builders lube. It turned very easily and smooth after assembly. I have not worked on the engine for 3 weeks and now I cannot get the crank to turn, even with a 3 foot cheater bar. The VQ40DE is all aluminum, so it shouldn't be rust on the pistons or the the cylinders. Any suggestions?

Just because it can't "rust" doesn't mean it won't corrode.

The cylinder bores aren't aluminum, they are steel inserts into an aluminum block. The piston rings aren't aluminum, either.
