2000 Pathfinder SE Manual Mass Air Flow Sensor Replace?

Postby famousredhead » Wed Jun 26, 2019 12:21 pm

Hey everyone...well the mechanic says it is probably more likely than not that my MAF sensor is bad. It has never been changed in the 20 yrs of the car and I know that I have never had it cleaned in the 6 yrs I've owned it.

So my Q is this:

1). Cant this just be cleaned first? OR Does it have to be replaced?
2). If it is to be replaced...how long a job is it typically?

Thanks

If it's just dirty, then it can be cleaned. If it's bad, then it has to be replaced. replacement time depends on whether you are just replacing the MAS sensor or the sensor/housing assembly, as it comes both ways. Just the sensor takes about 5 minutes if you have the tools handy. To replace the sensor/housing assembly, it takes about 15 minutes. I'll usually replace the air filter while I'm at it.

If you do need to replace it...use an 1 maxima maf. Exact same part and will save you a grip of money
