Has anyone used a type of engine cleaner like the following link? If anyone has, is it safe to use?

There seems to be a lot of dirt and dust that gets under the hood of Nissan's cars and trucks.

I use something very close to that. But Gunk products are very good and I would not hesitate to use this. On diesel trucks we use a chemical in a 55gal drum. Its basically the same as the Gunk but its not pressurized and we use a spray bottle with a pressure steam washer

You wouldn't recommend using a high pressure washer on the Pathfinder's engine though, would you? There is a lot of wiring that could probably come lose and end up ruining the engine.

When I still had a job at Peterbilt I used the spray cleaner and HP steam on my PF, Xterra, S10. Its fine to use this but I would not sit on one spot but move the spray head slowly.

you can use gunk citrus, or regular gunk for a oily engine. I spray the cleaner on a very warm engine, (a 2-3 mile journey) and all the under-hood components. Then take a water hose on a spray setting and just spray enough to remove the cleaner and grime. I would not advise to spray large amounts of water continually on engine. the trick is to let the engine heat dissipate the moisture before starting up.

When I used to clean the engine in my old Blazer, I used to spray the stuff on, then let it sit for a minute or two. I would then turn the engine on, and spray the entire thing down.

I use about the same procedure as most of you guys but I use my leaf blower to blow off most of the water out. I gotta improvise being that I dont have an air compressor. Smile

is there a strong cleaner that will get mud out of the engine bay? Ive tried simple green, purple power and some other sprays. They seem to clean up the plastic covers a bit but nothing else. Im afraid to go in for warranty work with my engine bay looking like it does..

NEVER EVER use a pressure washer on your engine you can damage or ever ruin your electrical (I did it on my last car.. hence why I have a pathy now) I NOW use break cleaner and the use the hose to mist it all off.. Shines up nice if you get in there with a rag.. Just figured I would throw my two pennies in
