Tail light problems....need help.

Postby tonyperkis » Sun Jan 31, 2010 4:54 pm

So heres the problem, I recently got a 1994 Pathfinder to use as a winter beater. Got it cheap so it had its share of problems. The main one I need to fix asap is the right tail light. Whenever I turn the tail lights on all of them come on except for the rear right side. I know it isn't burnt out because whenever I put the brakes on the light comes on fine.

Was wondering if you guys had any insights for me? Any fuses to check or anything that would help solve this problem? I would hate to have to take it in any pay for it if it is something I could do myself.

Actually, it still could be a burnt out bulb. IIRC, the tail light and the brake light are the same bulb, just gets brighter when you hit the brakes?

In that situation, the bulb has two filaments: one (slightly dimmer) for the tail light, and one (slightly brighter) for the brake light. It's actually fairly common for only one of the filaments to burn out (leaving the other filament to work as normal)
