09 Pathfinder without rear camera, Nav integration possible?

Oh yeah, it's the geek bling with flashing lights, just can't get enough.

My quick how to... pictures to come...

the entire center stack is help in by 2 screws that point out towards the doors. They are behind the din with the aux in. i had to use a ratchet because they are really in there tight... but once the were out, i just pulled and the entire center stack came out.

The screen is attached to the dash, not the center stack and the clip on the back of the screen was a bit tricky, there's a button in the center of the connector, push down and pull the connector out...

One thing that I didn't realize is that the video interface box needs to be on at all times, even to get your factory screen.

Oh and one more thing that got me... the green wire, has to be connected to get the unit to work, it says it's meant for the handbrake, but i just wrapped it around the screw next to my shifter under the trim...

Thanks scarelli, I'm looking forward to seeing the pics.

I just sold my 01 Pathfinder last week and picked up an 09 Pathfinder on the weekend. I was thinking of doing this exact same thing. One thing I'd like to know from you... Can you give me any kind of part number/eBay item of the camera itself?

The closest I've been able to find so far is this one:
http://cgi.ebay.ca/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?Vie ... 0492762323
It's not really meant for a Pathfinder but I might be able to hack it up to make it fit.

Shawn, I was actually talking about the camera unit, not the box to interface to the screen.
Did you buy the camera off eBay too?

no, my car came with the camera.

Courtesy Nissan sells the camera.

Do you have the screen in your car? I'm pretty sure it was standard in 2008, but not sure about 2009. It might have been packaged with the premium journey package that i got with my 2010 SE.

Ya, I noticed that Courtesy Nissan sells the camera. But $418 ?? I don't even know how that can be possible.

From studying the Factory Service Manual, it appears that the factory camera runs on 6V and needs another "Controller Assy" to go with it:
http://www.courtesyparts.com/284a1-cont ... 67372.html (that's another $150).

My Pathfinder does have the 7" display screen but does not have a factory backup camera.
Even if I purchased the above 2 parts, and somehow wired them in, I still don't know if the display screen would actually work.

For anyone else that has added an aftermarket camera to their R51 Pathfinder, can you post the part number/link that you used (for the camera)?

The video interface i bought has a second input for a reverse camera. it activates when power is fed through the blue wire.

You could probably use the video interface and hook up that blue wire to your reverse light....

This way you could use any type of camera that can go to an RCA jack...

That is exactly what I'm hoping to do. I was just looking for ideas on a camera that will fit nicely where the license plate lights are.

They actually make license plate frames with a backup camera built in...
pretty cheap too... around 100bucks..

I was thinking about doing one on the front of my car... to keep the wife from hitting stuff.. ha..

All of the wiring and connections went under the center console, tons of room under it. The Garmin brain went behind the A/C controls. I caught the power and accessory wires directly off of the ignition harness and ran them fused to bus bars under the console.

That looks awesome Brokentoy. You've got some skillz!
I don't imagine it was an easy task to get the wires to run down inside the seat.
