Starter Parts

I have just replaced brushes in my starter from my 1991 Pathfinder 4x4 but I found there are two washers missing from it, they go between the armature and the center bracket.
I went down to the Nissan dealership they told me the washer set from the starter is no longer available does anyone know where I could get the washers for this starter?
It appears to be the original starter, also does anyone know how critical the thickness of these washers are to the operation of the starter ?
I thought maybe I could substitute these washers with some other washers but I don't know the thickness of the original ones and I was wondering how important that is, I really would appreciate any help with this one I am in financial difficulties right now and I really don't need to have to buy a new starter, but I really do need my car back on the road.
