Actually, the longer Shank length allows for more turning clearance from bumper to trailer frame.

Ah ok, that does make sense I guess. I'd just like more steel inside the hitch, but I'm only towing ~1800 lbs.

Thanks.

Can you get a WDH system like I have on my travel trailer?
Almost a year later..... :D

You can, but I didn't bother with mine. My tongue weight is not excessive so I don't think it's needed. Probably the case with most boats as the weight is on the trailer axles.

Towed my wife's A3 from Birmingham, AL to Savannah, GA. The car crapped out on us while visiting my brother. I was too PO'd to take a picture or weigh it. Research tells me the combined weight was right around 5500 lbs. The ride was pretty squirrely with the stock springs and shocks. 0/10 would not tow again at that weight without some kind of help (airlift, specifically). Luckily, for the car, it was the intake manifold that needed to be replaced under extended warranty. I really hate to love that car.

It can get squirrely if less than 10% or so of the trailer weight is on the hitch. Was the car moved as far forward as possible? Since it would have a low profile compared to a camper, I don’t know why you should have had a problem.

The car was all the way up on the trailer. Squirrely was more of me making light of a bad series of events. It was funny in my head but didn't translate as a joke into typed words. It wasn't that bad. The front end was a little light was all. It wasn't as terrible as I made it out to be. I guess I'm stilled perturbed about the fickle little Audi. I am due for a new suspension though.

I'm about to purchase a travel trailer to tow behind my 08 V8. Trying to find out from those that tow heavy do you have a programer like bullydog? I'm below my tow rating but want to know if there are any gains if I end up purchasing a programer.

So I bought a Jayco Jayflight 28BHS. Took it too Lava Hot springs in South Eastern Idaho last weekend. The Pathfinder towed well except for the 7 MPGs on the way there and 8 MPGs on the way back. I was able to hold 60-65 MPH over a small pass of about 5500ft.

The day we bought it

Nice setup, looks real good. The guys over on RV.net would despise you for this lol

I'm glad to hear it towed well

I took mine out for a ride this weekend to get a feel of it before we hit the open road.

Mine is a 2011 Jayco Jay Feather X19H.

The Pathfinder towed it pretty good, definitely knew it was there but didn't seem to bog down at all and pulled it with no issues, up and down hills.

I used the PF to tow a 6x12 Uhaul trailer about 200 miles this weekend. Loaded with furniture I was around 3,500#. Plus four humans and two big dogs on board. What surprised me was the fuel economy. Ran 70-75mph with the AC blasting and averaged almost 17mpg.

Ryan7 have you added airbags yet? If not you may want to.
