I miss how the Pathy used to have the spare on the back. Good job!

Thanks Guys! I'll have to get better pics when i have the bumper off. The bracket pictured is a mount off of my brothers old rangers u-haul hitch that was laying around. All bolts i had were grade 5 3/8in. It may not be the best for a write up, but i will try to help anybody who is looking to do this as best i can. Maybe these will help a little or inspire you to do one of your own!

Agree, why??? This really seems like a downgrade. Only thing I can think of is, are you trying to carry an additional spare tire? I'm just not seeing a practical purpose here and it certainly can't be for aesthetic reasons.

I guess he likes the "look" and I kind of do too (I used to have a Wrangler). Also a good way to carry a second spare (other than on top). For me it would just be in the way of things like my hitch mounted Yakima swing away bike rack, my reciever hitch cargo tray and I think it would intervere with towing...

I think I will leave my spare underneath but good mod for those that like it.

To really complete the look I would use a spare that has a matching wheel and tire to those on the truck.

gotta make sure you get a tire cover. the sun will dry out the tire and make the thread start to seperate when in use.

Yes the hatch opens just fine. As for the why.. Well i like to play off road whenever i get a chance and my spare wouldnt do me any good if it was cut by a rock or small tree stump for that matter. I also didnt like it on the roof. My hitch mount bike rack still works and i can tow just fine no issues there. Also i didnt want to pay $600+ for an X bumper tire carrier and $900 for the Pathy one. My total in this so far is $120. The bumper is not finished yet i have to add some where i cut to much and round back all the cut edges.
