2008 Pathfinder

Postby SilverGhost » Fri Jun 01, 2007 5:39 am

Went to my dealer yesterday for an oil change. I was surprised that they already had a couple of '08s on the lot. Just got 'em, I guess, because the protective foam was still in place. I didn't have my camera, and I don't know if anyone else has seen one up close and personal, but I noted a few exterior trim changes on the LE.

The lower grille opening is enlarged (I think), and the bottom lip is ForeRunner-like. It has a silver painted, full-width plastic overlay that gives the impression of being a protective plate. I remember reading that the grille itself was going to be redesigned, but I failed to notice. The wheels are the same ones all of us LE owners have, but they're painted a darker gray (similar to the roof rails and running boards). The "Pathfinder" lettering on the roof rails is gone, and the protective side mouldings have a chrome-like insert strip that frankly looks out of character.

If anyone wants photos, let me know and I'll go snap a few.

Sorry to let you down. I took a dozen pics today, but my photo hosting site is giving me fits. So, I got nothin'!

www.nissanusa.com has "some" photos of the '08, so check 'em out until I can get sorted out with my photo host.

BTW, I saw today that there are a few upgrades from our trucks. There is a 6-color info display screen (whatever that is for), XM Radio is standard (I'm sure subscription is extra), heated steering wheel is now included, EPA fuel mileage estimates are down to 15/22, and the dash controls and center console are lookin' one helluva lot better than what we have. Thank God they dropped the cheesy gold-glitter burl woodgrain for a very nice, low-gloss dark walnut/cherry.

BTW, that new V8 offers 100 more ft/lbs of torque than us V6-er's have, not to mention another 45 or so HP. But, at a price premium of $1700, I'm still satisfied with what I got. (Almost forgot - those 1700 beans also get you 18" 12-spoke wheels with 265/60 tires!)

I'll keep trying on the pics.

Oh, and NAKA24DE, you're okay on your wheels. After another look, the LE wheel faces are darker, but not quite gun-metal . . . only the spoke insets are gun-metal. Strut 'em, NAKA!

OTOH, you're just another '08 as far as the roof rail lettering goes . . . sorry, man.

I have the "PATHFINDER" removed from my rails too -- sucks they wised up and started doing it to all of them -- I liked being somewhat unique.

Good question. I'll check since we have the new V8 here in a couple of lots where I live in San Diego. However, I did check the rear ... they are using the R230 rear diffs, the same ones found in the International versions as well as on the Armada, so hopefully the front should be the more beefier version like the Armada's. I'll find out the ratio's as well. Maybe we can swap the V8 versions to the V6 versions. I know ARB are making lockers for the R230 rear and R200 fronts.

I noticed the specs for the 2008 pathfinder shows it being 192" long. The specs for the 2005-2007 pathfinder shows it as being 187" long. Did they stretch out the front bumper to accomidate the new bigger V8 into the front end.

Not sure about the front, but the rear bumper on the '05-'07 works well. Some A-hole rear ended me at a red light today on my way to my OME installation. I just have a minor scuff on the plastic which I may be able to buff out a bit. I thought for sure the plastic would be toast in any minor front or rear collision.
