Might as well throw a dress and lipstick on it and call it the Betty-Mobile.

Hope they replace it with something off-road worthy.....

Well, as far as replacing it, don't expect anything soon. The first generation Pathy went almost ten years, the second went nine years, and the third lasted eight years!

With the new Pathfinder, Nissan hopes to attract what Smith calls "savvy, cool parents." Translation: busy, active families — the market every crossover aims to conquer. How will the Pathfinder set itself apart? A cabin loaded with creature comforts is sure to appeal, along with the Pathfinder's shifted focus from utility to comfort.

Also looks like they've added a bit to their official 2013 Pathfinder site: http://www.nissanusa.com/all-new-pathfi ... .240189300

So, that leaves the X for Nissan as the only true 4x4. And there is still no concrete info as to if it will be redesigned or axed.

Well....wife said NOPE to both the 2013 Pathfinder (based on looks) or the JX we checked out. Bought an Acura MDX...been around a few years (which can be a good thing) but still very nice for what she wants. Sorry Nissan...even the perfect buyer for your PF wasn't interested.

The WD21 was a body on frame, and it was used for the Pathfinder and the Hardbody Truck(D21)

The R50 was a unibody and there was no comparable truck (duh, it wasn't body on frame), but it was used for the Pathfinder and the Infiniti Qx4 (JR50)
Meanwhile, the New truck, frontier (D22) now started sharing platform with the Xterra (WD22)

The R51 went back to body on frame, but infiniti was dropped and the F-alpha was used for all of their trucks (Pathfinder, Xterra, Frontier, Armada, QX56).

What the heck is my point?
If Pathfinder is switching back to unibody for the R52, then I am guessing it's because they also want a comparable Infiniti vehicle (return of the Qx4?). As for the body on frame, I doubt that nissan will kill it completely, so my second guess is that the nwe D23 (frontier) will be sharing platform with the new Xterra (D23)???

I have owned three pathfinders ('97, '01, and '05), but I don't think many real pathfinder owners will switch to the '13 unibody model.

I am hoping that D23 Xterra will grow to the current pathfinder size (third row), and get little more dressed up??? I'd switch from my R50 to the new Xterra if that happened...

The new Pathfinder already has a comparable Infiniti vehicle; it's the JX35.

I saw them hot weather testing this thing in dubai. no taller than a station wagon! and as long as a minivan! Nissan completely lost the point of a pathfinder.

The December issue of Motor Trend has the SUV of the year. The "new" Pathfinder is part of the lineup, and I can honestly say that group of contenders are not, in any shape or form, what I would consider a true SUV. Truly sad. I wish they would have thrown in more vehicles, but they chose to go with the pavement pushers.

There was also a full page opinion/article about a guy who had a Pathfinder in high school and ends up ripping on the new redesign.

"The market for truck-based SUVs that aren't Suburbans, Jeeps, or Land Rovers has left the building."

That's a fact people.

The fact that you (or I) may be one of the hold-outs doesn't change that.

Yep, and try telling that to the FJ owners.
