Fuel Guage problem 2005 Pathfinder

Postby jm20196 » Thu Jun 30, 2011 7:28 am

Has anyone else had a problem with their fuel guage acting crazy after a fill-up? I filled up yesterday and after starting car it still showed empty with light on. I drove about 15 miles and decided to make sure the pump had actually worked and put more gas in and it only took around a gallon so I do have a full tank. The guage has now creeped up to slightly less than 1/4 tank. I have 110k miles and after doing some research this appears to be a common problem with 2005-07 models. Does anyone have any advise other than shelling out the cash to get a new guage?

Thanks.

Have a look here: http://www.thenissanpath.com/viewtopic. ... fuel+gauge

It isn't the gauge that fails, but rather the fuel sending unit. Some, like myself, had one or two other parts that also needed to be replaced along with the fuel sending unit.

I had to replace my fuel sending unit which is located on the fuel pump assembly in the gas tank. I did the repair myself and paid out of pocket for the parts. Nissan later sent out a recall for the faulty fuel sending unit and I was fully reimbursed. Check with your dealer and see if your pathfinder is included in this recall.

FYI there's safety recall NTB10-031a dated may 19, 2010 that addresses fuel sending unit problem in 2006 and 8008 frontier D40, exterra N50, and pathfinder R51.

2006 with same problem. Dealer fixed under recall by replacing sending unit. It's really a no-brainer repair.

Fixed my 07 this weekend. Bought the parts off ebay shipped to my door for 85 bucks. Called the dealer and they said it wasnt covered by recall, and I am not going to milk Nissan to fix it.
