Rancho 9000xl shocks

Postby 2006 Pathy » Mon Aug 01, 2011 10:20 am

Hi everyone,

New member, long time lurker. After searching around on this forum for what people are using to replace the front strut on their PF's, i decided to go with the Rancho 9000xl and air bags for the rear. The Ranchos have an adjustability of 0-9. I wanted to get a feel for what others that have the same set up have found as a comfortable setting. I know a lot will have to do with the "feel" i like but i was curious. I mostly do street driving but the PF does see light off road activity. Interested in hearing what others have done.

Same goes for the air bags, what PSI are you guys running?

on my '96 SE ( NON Off Road ) I did the OE Rancho Offroad struts up front and the Ranch 9000XL in the rear ... wasnt to impressed with the Ranchos ... I have to run them at 8 to feel as stiff as the stock rears , I run them at 9 all the time , just slightly stiffer than stock .... good if you want a soft suspension , but for street use only slightly better than the OE ... Wished I would have known about the later Bilstein's used in the later Off Roads ...

What a bummer... The PF will see some moderate off roading. I was close to getting the radflo c/o's from PRG but the price scared me away. Hearing your experience makes me wish i would have saved the money for the c/o...

Well, the rancho struts up front are getting installed today... I'll let you guys know how they ride after it's done.

Also I installed the air lift 1000 air bags a couple nights ago and those came out great! Big difference in how the PF rides in the rear.

Had a chance to drive around for a while after the rancho strut install, had to set the adjuster up to 7 (out of 9) for the ride I preferred. I'm actually thinking of moving it to 8 but we'll see. Definitely an improvement over stock but I can see upgrading to a full coil over in the future... My expectation for how they do off road isn't very high... :(
