Just goes to show, you need to join a forum and find out about your car.

I've been reading a lot of the posts regarding the tranny issues and it seems like many of the failures are on the 05-07/08 Pathys. Have I been reading that correct? Should I be worried about my 11? Would you recommend an extended warr?

as the 05s-08s are the oldest, i think it's more usual that you will see more of anything going wrong with them, as opposed to newer year models which typically have less miles on them
the extended warranty on the radiator covers 2005-2010 models
whether or not the 2010+ year models will have this problem is not known (yet)
extended warranty? tough to say. :|
i have two 2005 Pathfinders (both bought new), and i'm glad i didn't buy extended warranties, as neither extension would have paid for itself
but both trucks have relatively low miles on them, so..................

Out of curosity has any one heard of an 08 radiator failure?

How about a 5.6L V8 radiator failure? From my understanding the 4.0 and 5.6 are the same radiator, but I've never verified this.

Thanks, I saw that link, but I didn't compare heater problems to the transmission problems. I guess they are still somewhat newer than the rest. I'll keep my eye open.

Thanks for posting that site. I went car shopping today for a small 4cyl, 4dr sedan & came back home to do the research on some Hondas & Toyotas. WOW ! ! ! In all fairness, all I can say is it’s not just Nissan with the costly, major repairs. Tell me, what’s a person to do?

V8 rad is the same as the V6 if you check the PNs on courtesy.

Thanks for the info on the radiator. I'll probably end up doing the bypass this spring.

She wasn't really showing the symptoms of the contaminated tranny. Moreso it looks like one of her solenoids is sticky. Even more likely is that she's got a leak and the trans is low on fluid.

And not making a statement here (as a fair number of you have had the issue at no fault of your own) but I'd bet she doesn't do much in the way of maintenance. In my experience, people who let their gas run that low are in this category.

Of course this is all out the window if she's got the fuel gauge issues on top of the trans issue.... :)

I just love that she's doing 80mph, with a failing transmission, while video recording.

I just picked up my '07 at the dealer service yesterday. Dropped it off for a shudder in the transmission, in overdrive, at 40mph. After having it all day, they said I need front brakes and rotors to fix a pulsating brake pedal. No luck getting it to shudder. I said I don't want the brakes done, get it in overdrive, let it bog down at 40mph and about 1100rpm, it'll do it every time. After 4pm, they call me back and said the tech could get it to do it once, it does feel like it's in the transmission, but it's too late in the day to start working on it, when can I drop it again?
Beautiful.

And I checked the fluids regularly, no mixing that I can see. Transmission is still red, antifreeze bright green. Torque converter going?
