Just left a deposit on a 07

Postby deserter » Sat Jan 21, 2012 8:30 pm

First of all Hi as I'm a new member

I just left a deposit on a 07 Pathfinder V6 SE with some extra's, its done 92,000 kms
so I'm doing an inspection on it on Monday and wondered what I need to look for before I complete the deal
also do I need to do the coolant/tranny mod and if so are there any side effects at all, I live in Alberta and it gets COLD

thanks in advance

Lee

DEFINETLY check for the "milkshake" transmission fluid color. If it is milky, RUN from this truck. If it's not, Buy it and DAY ONE get the trans bypass cooler installed.

so I went to check it over a bit more and the truck seemed in great shape, I asked the dealer and he said the radiator is covered for 8 years/130000 kms, so I don't seem to have to worry for that for a while?

When I read the title of the thread, I laughed so hard I lost some coffee. Then I re-read, and figured you had just put money down to buy one, and not planted a coiler on the hood. Nice!

Didn't even think about it until you brought it up, and my mind lives in the gutter. However, I got a pretty good laugh out of your response (it's all about the mental visuals).

Thanks all.
Deserter, I'd look over the threads here about the bypass/radiator change etc. I think you'll find there are pro's and cons to both approach that will be pertinent to you.

lol, I should have left that type of deposit on the car I just had to get the manufacturer to buy back off me

I'm not going to do the mod until the warranty is up tbh so I've got 40,000 kms to go

Welcome to the Canadian brotherhood of Pathfinder owners.

I have an 07 and have had the sender done but was unaware of the timing chain being an issue on the 07 year. I have only 61000kms on mine but thought it sensible to do the bye pass, it is very straight forward and I left the pipes there just in case I needed to reconnect in a hurry - possible warranty dispute.

I would suggest you get a set of air bags - they make Canadian road feel quite good.
