Looks good on a dark color. I dont want to do it on a white paint job. It would look like skunk stripes. They just dont make white undercoating in a rattle can. Any alternatives??
I guess this is pretty common????

The original thread where I got the idea from was off thenewx forum. The guy that did the bedlining had a white Xterra & the black gutters look really good, probably more so than any other color.

That does look good, but it has a black rack too.

I doubt anyone would ever see it because R51's setup pretty high anyway.

Thanks again

I notice about 2 months ago that my channels are cracked and paint flaking off. I going to tackle this mod labor today. I'm also going to do the inner rocker panels as well.

That looks pretty good. I don't think it would really show up on my dark blue roof though. I will have to check tomorrow if mine is starting to chip as well. Did you get to the rocker panels as well? I have been considering doing that to mine but the side steps block most of it.

No on the rockers, I did this when my daughter was taking a nap and she woke just as I was finishing the last coat. I'm going to save the rockers for a day that my wife's off of work

From a quick glance, mine seems to be just fine. I'd really have to stick my nose right in the gutters to really inspect for cracks though.

I've heard that the rustoleum bedliner is not as rubbery and most guys on some other forums that I have been on prefer it over the duplicolor for durability. I plan on using that to do my gutters.

also, has anyone put a clearcoat over the bedliner? I was thinking of using a matte clearcoat for some added durability.

I can't imagine any type of clear coat would work. At least I've never tried to apply it to a rough, non-stable (moving) surface. 3M makes a rattle can version of their paint film: http://www.amazon.com/3M-90000-Paint-De ... +clear+bra

Still, anything that is bedlined is far removed from a flat, painted surface. About the only thing I have heard of people doing is painting over their bedliner, although that doesn't last too long either. If you find something that works, let us know!
