Wheel bearing service?

Postby Gray » Mon Mar 17, 2008 12:51 am

Looking through the service manual I don't really see a protocol for servicing front and rear wheel bearings periodically or after doing a week of river crossings for example. I guess if the rubber boots holding the grease in place are intact then no problem. Any thought on this?

I believe they are non-serviceable. Gone are the days of disassembling the hub and handling business. Now the manu's are going to a more expensive to replace but cheaper for them non-serviceable style bearing that is integrated into the hub assembly. So you're pretty much stuck until you hear that lovely grinding noise.
