Power window issues

Postby DanJetta » Sat Oct 27, 2012 11:24 pm

So I'm sitting in traffic when all of a sudden my passenger window starts freaking out. It automatically rolls down 3/4 of the way, pauses, and then back up to almost shut, then all the way down, then half way shut, and so on...up and down. By itself.

I can make it stop by engaging the window lock button on the driver's side door.

Thoughts?

Yes. If you put on the window lock, it will lock all windows except the Driver window.

sounds like a bad passenger side window switch to me. i was always under the impression the driver lockout simply cut power to the other switches.

Great, that's what I was wondering - if it's a switch or something in the motor. Anyone know how to pop that switch out? Is it a 'remove the whole door panel' thing or does that trim just pop off?

That lock button locks all windows except the driver's -- even on the driver's window switch panel. That means I'm going to have to figure out which switch it is.

i think i read in here that it just pops out...at least i want to say the drivers side does, and if that does then the other should too.

and yeah, you'll have to figure out if it's the drivers switch or passengers switch for the problem.

Why would it go back and forth? If something was shorting in the switch, would it not go one way?

Yeah, I was wondering that, too. I'm going to unhook the switches and see if it fixes the problem.
