Here's a link to a memory saver available for $10 from Amazon.com. Never use one of these when working on/removing/replacing air bag system componants!:

If you disconnect the battery with the wheels straight ahead, you may be okay with the steering wheel position sensor. At first, the VDC and SLIP lights will illluminate but as you take it for a drive, they may turn off. If they stay on, you wheel have to erase the stored codes and reset the steering position sensor. I believe you need a capable scantool to do this. If the idle air volume memory is lost and not relearned, you could experience high or low idle and/or stalling. Over time it will learn this, but how long one can't say. There is a manual method to relearn it and you can probably find it somewhere on the forum; it's a bit of a pain without a scantool that can perform this function.
