?Mileage before brakes are needed?

What mileage are you guys averaging on your Pathys, I am about to roll 53000 and brakes are still good. What is the best brand for your buck?

It has a lot to do with what kind of driving you do. At 84000, front and rear pads were put on my 06LE, but I'm the second owner and can't say if they were over replaced before. I have an 08SE that I put front brakes on around 70000 miles and rear pads on around 90000 miles.

My 06LE has genuine Nissan pads, front and rear. The performance is good but they tend to develope a squeek. Right now I have 20000 miles on them and they have a noticeable squeel when braking at low speeds. I had them off about 9000 miles ago to clean up the brakes and lubricate the backing plates and end plates with PBC grease.

The 08SE has Akebono ACT Ceramic brake pads that I purchased through Rockauto.com. They came with new hardware and lube. The perform as well if not better than the genuine Nissan pads and I have not experienced a single squeek, so far. The original Nissan pads were made by Hitachi, but Akebono is an OEM supplier to Nissan of brake pads and have been so for decades. The fact that they were a lot cheaper than genuine Nissan pads didn't hurt, either!. If I were to replace the pads ever again, I would definately go with the Akebono's.

I replaced the fronts around 50k miles and I'm not easy on brakes. Rotors are still fine at 77k. I was impressed enough to use the OEM pads again. I have never had any squeaking/squeeling with the brakes. They do fade if abused or if towing a heavy trailer without brakes...but I don't do that often enough to be concerned.

haha, I just posted above this thread, asking the same question. I have 84k miles and the brakes feel good as new. No warping of rotors, no vibration at all.

I actually did have warped front rotors when I did the brakes on the 08SE. Due to the limited time I had, I ended up replacing the rotors with a set of Wagner brand parts. No issues with them.

I tend to drive like if I had no brakes, I tend to coast to lights and feather the brakes when I need them. If the pathy was a stick shift I can probably get even more miles out of the brakes.

for what it is worth I have used akebono ceramics in the past on my other nissan/infiniti cars and I liked them a lot. They have an OEM feel with considerably much less dust. On the other hand I have no complaints on the OEM brakes on the pathfinder, I might just stick to them for brake job.
