HELP XENON BULB REMOVAL ???

Postby 2BarBoost » Fri Dec 21, 2012 10:59 am

Hi,

My drivers side xenon main headlamp bulb has blown and I cannot work out how it is removed from the the holder??? The Nissan manual says take it to a dealer....

Am I being stupid or is there a specific way these are removed as I have tried pulling twisting etc.

Please can anyone help with this??

The xenon bulb moves up and down but also twists in the holder but just refuses to come out. I must be doing something wrong as it must be really simple....

never heard of it either.

2BarBoost, the SVE is a 2.5 diesel engine yes?
I'm not sure you will find a quick response as most of the users here have the gas engine version, which usually doesnt come with Xenons

Mine is 4.0 v6 gasoline (European version) and it has xenons. But I have no idea how to remove/replace the bulb.

do you already have a replacement bulb? if not i'd get one of those and then it should shed some light on how it might come out....

Mine is a 2006 with the YD25DDTI engine in 174bhp spec. I've ordered a pair of d2s replacement bulbs off eBay so hopefully that will shed some light on it (excuse the pun)

There are 3 t5 torx bolts at the back of the holder so I imagine that these will need to be undone to fit the new bulb but I dont have that size torx at home

Will take some pictures when I get the new bulbs/find the right size torx tool and update the thread asap.

Interesting. I wonder if anyone's looked into installing the European 2006 Xenon headlamps into a US model?

If its like any of the other Xenon equipped cars I have had, you don't replace just the bulb, but the bulb and the wiring. About six inches of cable behind the bulb you should find some wire clips just separate those and replace with a new bulb.

I have looked into it for the '08+. To do it right you need the entire headlamp and wiring and runs about $3,500 USD to import. Pass.

I figured you'd need the lamps, but @ $3500, I'll have to pass, too!
