Cargo area dome light

Small issue, when I open up the tailgate, the rear dome light does not come on. The switch is in the middle position. The light will come on, when I move the switch to the on position and also comes on when I open up the glass, also when the switch is in the middle position.

Any ideas what to look for?

when you open the rear hatch with the key on, do you get the "door open" message on your dash/lcd? if not then i'd say the prime candidate is the door open switch.

Checked this morning, no, the door open light, on the dash, does not come on, with the ignition on. It does come on, when the rear glass is open. Where is the switch?

that part i'm not sure. my guess would be the rear hatch lock mechanism. seems pretty pricey, and the options say "no power"? mine's the power assisted lock/close deal, so i'm not sure what that would mean.
