4WD light came on

When I switch into 4LO, the 4WD light comes on. The manual says that when this happens I need to take it in. It doesn't come on when it's in auto 4 or 4HI. Only when switching to 4LO. Any ideas on what's wrong?

are you switching while you're stopped and in neutral ? if not , that's the procedure to do it.

yep. That's how I have been doing it. I have tried going into 4hi (the correct way...while moving) and then stopping and putting it in neutral and going to 4 lo. I have tried in 2wd and stopping and putting it in 4lo. I have tried letting it roll a bit in neutral to see if the gears just needed to be aligned better. I've tried all the little tricks that I have read worked for others. I think I'm just going to end up taking it in today. We just got a decent snow and ice storm last night. So hopefully I don't get stuck and end up needing it. :/
